Three years ago I found one bright red poppy growing in the rocks at the edge of our property. I squealed. I was so excited that I transplanted it immediately to another part of the garden. That poppy did not survive the season. However, the seeds spread that fall and I now have more poppies than I know what to do with. I love the way they come up in places you don’t expect. Plant in the fall (let them get cold) and enjoy in the spring.
Shaking out poppy seeds from the pods is one of my most favorite childhood memories with my grandma.
